GikII Sessions at TILTing 2019!

TILT is happy to announce that TILTing 2019 will yet again embrace its nerdy soul, by including a ‘GikII’ style session the day before the conference, on the 14th of May 2019!

GikII combines law, technology and popular culture. In the first ever GikII workshop held in Edinburgh (2006) the topics discussed ranged from surveillance in Harry Potter, to copyright law and fansubs, from TRIPS and Japanese manga, to virtual world governance, and many more.

During the TILTing 2017 edition, the GikII sessions saw discussions, among others, about surveillance in the modern classic that is Demolition Man, varying reflections upon the ethical and legal affairs of Game of Thrones, Discworld, the Matrix and many, many, many cat memes.

So stretch your presenting muscles, warm up those geeky references and submit your geeky title and abstract (for a paper or presentation) to contribute to the discussion at TILTing 2019!

BUT WAIT! There is more! As 2019 is the 25th Anniversary of TILT and celebrations are in order, the plan is to collect the GikII papers presented at TILTing 2019 and publish them on a dedicated online collection and/or website! You know you want this.

Instructions

The GIkII session will take place on the 14th May 2019. Details about the schedule and location will be made available in due time before the event.

Submissions for GikII can be made via the Easychair portal of the TILTing 2019 conference by selecting the track “GikII”.

Deadline for submission is the 31st of March. The deadline has been extended.

There are no specific requirements for the abstract.

Participation to the GikII track is free.

Should GikII participants decide to also take part to TILTing 2019, they will be subject to the same registration procedure and fee of the TILTing 2019 conference.
